Here's Lyrad in action, in Haiti. He spent 6 weeks there with an Air Force medical disaster relief group, in a barbed wire tent compound on a landfill. He saw some patients and spent some time working on the Navy hospital ship "Comfort", but overall it was a disorganized mission with not enough for the doctors to do. He did read stacks of books and organized church services for a small group on Sundays, and he loved the few times he was able to leave the guarded compound and help in an orphanage. But eating only MRE's, having rats and pigs running around while he brushed his teeth, and not being allowed to leave the compound got old. Lyrad much prefers being busy and productive, especially when there are so many people nearby who need help! He was so happy when they finally could come home.
We have lived in Provo, St. Louis, Travis AFB, Guam, England, Germany, Vacaville (CA), Austin (TX) and now we get to try out life in Florida. Never a dull moment at our crazy house...
