Our getaway to Birmingham

 Lyrad and I had a weekend getaway in Alabama.  I never thought I'd add "Alabama" to our list of getaways (which includes Belgium, London, Paris, Krakow, Beijing, Tunisia, and Rome) but we had a great time.  We picked Birmingham because it has our nearest temple.

 We also walked along a nature trail

 and watched a Broadway production of "South Pacific."  It was fabulous!

 We drove home on a Sunday and stopped in Clanton, Alabama, for church.  I have NEVER seen a church building like this before (above):  there were less than 40 people at sacrament meeting, and the "chapel" was more like a big classroom, with a few smaller classrooms across the hall.  That was the whole building!  But behind the church is a large lawn area, so if they ever need to expand the building, they could easily do so.  The branch was very friendly and we  enjoyed our short stay in small-town Alabama.
