Our getaway to Denver

I went along with Lyrad to Denver for 5 days last week, while he attended an AAFP medical conference. We enjoyed eating Mediterranean food (mango lassi, hummus, falafals), attending the Denver Temple, and watching the Colorado Symphony perform the "Best of Beethoven."

We stayed downtown near neat buildings such as the Capitol (above) and a cathedral (below). There were many other buildings near us that I did NOT take photos of, such as adult bookstores, tattoo shops, smoke and hookah shops, shoe stores selling high heels for women AND MEN, and gay bars. To save money, Lyrad did not book a room in the convention center's rizy hotels. We stayed a mile away in a cheap lodging. I guess we did NOT learn our lesson last time we booked a cheap motel and it burned down. (But I DID learn from that fire experience to keep all my stuff with me in the car when I left the room.) When I took the rental car for a few days to visit friends, Lyrad walked the mile to and from his conference and saw up-close how sleazy and evil those downtown neighborhoods were. But overall we loved our getaway to Colorado and the children loved their time with Grandma!
