Visiting friends in Colorado

I was so excited to go to Denver with Lyrad because I love getting away with him, but also because I got to visit two wonderful friends who live in Colorado! First I stayed a night with Paula and her family; I hadn't seen them since Germany 3 years ago. I loved meeting 9-day-old Ian
and meeting 2-year-old Michael and seeing Samuel and Emily again. Samuel is 5 now and still as sweet as ever. He showed me how to draw dinosaurs with chalk on the driveway and he was so kind to his younger brothers. Cute Emily (not pictured) stayed up late reading in her bed with her headlamp. I loved chatting with Paula about life, meeting her sister who was visiting from New Zealand, and hearing Dave's perspective on the Air Force Academy (since it's on Isaac's list of options for next year). In our Germany days, Paula and I had a book club together and we took our kids to storytime together. She is my reading guru and reads at least 3 books a week. One of the biggest blessings I have from moving around so much is that I have the chance to meet amazing people in each place we have lived. So this week was great because I got to see 2 of my amazing friends again!

Next I stayed with Wendy and her family, who I hadn't seen in 6 years. We were neighbors in CA 12 years ago, then were together again in England 7 years ago. Our children are all matched up in age, except for their youngest, 3-year-old Anna. (Her oldest son is a day older than my oldest son, then our other children are opposite genders so hopefully our families can be related by marriage some day? That's my plan anyway.) It was so fun to see her boys and sweet daughters so grown up, and despite her busy schedule of running kids around and taking her son to chemotherapy (he's doing amazingly well with his cancer), Wendy still is amazing with the projects she takes on: lately she's painted watercolors, made quilts, built a bunk bed, put in 2 wood floors, stamps adorable greeting cards, sews up a storm, and is training for a half marathon! Inspirational. I certainly don't accomplish as much in a day as she does, but it's inspiring to see what's possible. =) We're both moving next summer and I hope we can be neighbors again somewhere!
Wendy, Anna, and I went to Garden of the Gods, a beautiful park with tall rock formations. I can't say it was completely stroller-friendly, but carrying a stroller down rock ledges makes for a great workout, right?
This is called "Kissing Camels". I had to show Eliza and Madi because they have a thing with camels.

How fun that you were able to visit with Wendy! It looks like your family has been incredibly busy. I hope that you are enjoying TX.
