Visit to southeast Florida

We're not taking any huge roadtrips this summer (I had quite enough of that last year, driving from Texas to California to Florida), but we enjoyed a trip to the other side of Florida.  Josh and I dropped off Rachel and Eliza and a friend at EFY in Tampa (7 hours away), then after getting them settled in their college dorm rooms, Josh and I drove another 3 1/2 hours to visit our friends from Guam (10 years ago).  They live on the east coast of Florida, near West Palm Beach (north of Miami).  Driving across Florida includes beautiful scenery (above) and almost no traffic.
Josh experienced the rough Atlantic Ocean waves...

...until he was ready for a rest.
He signs his name (and even his beach spot) with "Josh the Genius"

We visited a sea turtle center

In front of a fire station, we saw a memorial to 9/11.  Here's a steel piece from the World Trade Center, circled by glass walls with the names of everyone who perished due to the 9/11 attacks.  A very touching memorial.
Josh swam for hours with 9-year-old Juliana and 13-year-old JJ, in their awesome pool and enjoying their underwater camera.
It was great fun to hang out with my friend Melanie and her cute family!
