Day at the park

Joshie spends a lot of time watching his siblings' sports games, band concerts, driving practice sessions, etc, so he was thrilled to have some time at the park one day. Just him and me. (Okay, I admit we went between dropping a few kiddos off at different places and waiting to pick them up again, but it STILL counts as a "park outing for Josh!") What could be more fun than watching a 7-year-old boy fighting a dragon and saving the castle? It's WAY more fun than trying to explain to a 14-year-old why she can't have her own cell phone and why I won't drop her off at the mall each Saturday.

I'm with you on the mall! I broke down on the cell phone after waiting half an hour for my 12-year-old to come out of swimming practice one too many times. When do I have half an hour to spare after school? And it wasn't park weather at the time. Now he can call me when he's actually finished. He texts a little with his friends, but I think most boys are not the big social phone users that girls often are.

Thankfully my girls don't really like the mall!
We bought a 3rd phone which belongs to me, but I give it to whichever child needs it that day and it has been great.
I haven't been without a cell phone since that day Ailee was lost at the duck pond park, but I am not a big fan of them!
