Kayaking and canoeing

Rachel in the swamp

A capsized canoe! (and they're not sad at all about it)

Our friends from Houston drove up for the day to play at the lake with us. We swam, went canoeing and kayaking, and played tetherball at the lake. I've never been in such a warm lake; the water must have been over 90 degrees. Then we found a soccer field and played soccer and ultimate frisbee in the 100+ degree weather (followed by well-earned Icees). I guess I sprinted one too many times during the games, because I pulled a muscle in my leg and could hardly walk for the rest of the week. In my mind I'm still a teenager who can play sports against teenage boys, but my body couldn't keep up with that vision. But we had a great time and Catherine, Nate, Cameron, and Megan ended up spending the night at our house for more fun and games! They played Pente, Monopoly, Connect 4, and some intense table soccer. It was a blast and we're so excited that they'll come back to see us on Labor Day weekend!
