While driving to the base pool the other day, we passed the Travis Air Museum. I realized that people drive from long distances to see this great collection of airplanes, but we live right here and have a boy who's crazy about space travel and we never pay attention to the museum. So we stopped and walked around while Rachel (who was very ready to swim) sat in a chair by the entrance and read her stack of how-to-care-for-your-hamster library books. Joshua stared in awe at every model airplane (there were thousands) and actual bombs, missiles, and astronaut paraphernalia. He loved climbing into cockpits. He even got to sit in an actual Mercury space capsule and had the funniest expression on his face when I pushed the button that said "Push here" and the capsule began making noise and moving. He loves space but wasn't quite ready to take off on his first space flight... Joshua loves drawing rockets, planets, and aliens, and reading about Spaceman Spiff.
