Lyrad and I were in Texas when Isaac went to his first prom. But he had a great time ("the best date ever," he reported) and was relieved that I wasn't among the huge crowd of family members snapping photos before the dance. Some nice moms in the stake put together a Mormon Prom at the local Chrysler Building with clean music, modest dress standards, and it was about 1/10 the cost of the high school proms.
Of the 10 who went together, 6 are in our ward (and school), Isaac's date is in another ward and school, 2 are from school, and the cute blonde 2nd from left is my cousin's daughter. She lives an hour away, but she met her date when she was down here visiting us!
This is the same tux Lyrad wore to high school dances, trumpet performances, and on our wedding day. He knew when he bought the tux that he would save money over time... but I don't think he was looking THIS far into the future!!

We missed our daughter's first prom, too. It wasn't quite the success that Isaac's was, but she looked gorgeous and had fun getting ready with her friends.
