We are finished with Pinewood Derbies! This was our 6th (and last) year of making and racing a car. I'm glad it's over; I don't like watching so many boys disappointed when their cars don't win. Josh won 2nd place, but the boy (and dad) who won 1st place isn't even a cub scout; he's just a friend of another scout and wanted to join the race. So Josh feels like he won out of the boys in our pack. After the cub scouts raced their cars, anyone else could race whatever size and weight car they wanted to race in the Family Races. So Lyrad went to town designing some long cars...
I'm glad to have my kitchen table back after a week of woodworking/painting/decorating (above).
Josh had as much fun making this "carrying case" for his pinewood derby car as he did making the actual car"Aim...for the finish line" -- the lid screws off and little pieces of lead were stuck inside a hollowed out area. The "toothpaste drips" are melted lead.
Josh also made this redneck truck for the no-rules family races

Lyrad made a whale and a limo
