Rachel and I spent Saturday with cousin Mara and my sister-in-law Becky at the annual Solo and Ensemble Festival. The girls played songs for a judge, then were given a score for how they performed. Rachel played a flute duet with Colleen (above). Then she played a long solo, Mozart's "Andante" (below). I was her accompanist and spent a lot of time practicing piano over these last few weeks. I'm a little out of practice and wished Isaac was here to play the accompaniment for me. But I did my best, turned the volume on the keyboard down a little, and it all worked out in the end. Rachel earned superiors in both of her numbers, which made all her long hours of practicing worth it!
She hasn't worn her reading glasses in years, but she realized she could see the notes better if she wore glasses while reading the music.
