Josh wanted to celebrate Sophie (the bunny)'s 6-month-old "birthday." He baked a carrot cake (and made cream cheese frosting) all from scratch, then cut it in the shape of a carrot. Then we took Sophie and a piece of carrot cake to Sophie Marie's namesake, Sister (Marie-Helene) Legge. Sister Legge loves Sophie and our whole family loves the Legges. She is from France and speaks 5 languages fluently. She teaches my weekly French classes, and she reads piles of books each week. I don't need a book club here, because she and I share and discuss books each week. She's also an artist and Josh has no less than SEVEN framed pictures of animals she's painted, in his room. She's also studying Russian, works at the family history center each week, and works at the temple (4+ hours away). I want to be as productive and smart as she is when my kiddos are grown and gone!
Josh is becoming quite the cook, especially a dessert cook: lately he's made delicious chocolate waffles, oatmeal cookies, and apple pie. He's mastered omelettes, too -- which he and Lyrad enjoy (they're the only 2 in our family who like eggs).
"Breakfast for dinner" made by Josh: chocolate waffle, potatoes, omelet.
