A full Saturday

After the orchestra dinner
Eliza (the middle violin) playing in Music by Candlelight

Isaac in the district choir concert
Isaac with 2 of the biggest influences in his life: his seminary teacher and his choir director at school (who's also a BYU Music graduate and Isaac's AP Music Theory teacher and one of the directors of Les Mis). They both came to hear the District Choir performance. The choir kids from several high schools in the area spent a day in workshops and learning numbers to perform that night. They sang Latin songs and a song sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It blew me away!

Eliza is finished with her rec soccer season and is now in the middle of tryouts for the high school team. For the end-of-season soccer tournament, Eliza's team played 3 games in one (very cold) day, 45 minutes away. Coincidentally, Isaac had district choir all day just down the street from Eliza's tournament. So Josh and I drove them at 8 a.m., then watched soccer games, read in the warm car, took Eliza out to lunch at the grocery store between games, and cheered on Eliza's team as they won all 3 games. My favorite part of the tournament was when Eliza scored a goal off of a corner kick. We finished at the soccer fields at 5:15, and made it to Isaac's 6:00 choir performance. Then we hurried home by 8:00 so Eliza could change and get to her orchestra performance at 8:30. We dressed up and went with her, because it was called Music by Candlelight and we ate a nice dinner while watching small string groups perform. Luckily Eliza wasn't performing until 9 p.m. After a nice meal, great music, and winning four baskets by silent auction (thanks to enthusiastic Rachel signing my name for me), we were almost done with our long day. Then I got to drive across town to pick up Madi from a seminary party and was home by 11:30 p.m. Whew, that was a long (but wonderful) day! I love watching my children play soccer, sing in choirs, and perform on the violin. And I love it when they don't overlap too much and I can make it to all the different performances! During the next 2 weeks, we get to hear lots of live Christmas music: Isaac's stake Christmas choir and bell choir, Eliza's orchestra concert, Isaac's choir concert, Rachel's Glee concert, Madi's band concert (combined with Isaac's jazz band concert), Rachel's band concert, and Isaac's piano recital. I love it all!
